. . . . Thai Christians Reaching Thai People for Jesus
SUMMER 2020 UPDATE
p01
Greetings from Thailand from Romans 12:12! BE JOYFUL IN HOPE, PATIENT IN AFFLICTION, AND FAITHFUL IN PRAYER! We are being tested especially hard with the middle part of that verse during this season of Covid-19, but it pleases me to report that the hope and prayer continue to be even stronger than pre-Covid, if that's possible. As with the rest of the world, Thailand has been in a shutdown mode for several months, and just recently started to reopen. We have started our church services in person for a few weeks now, while maintaining strict protocols. Worshipers are happy to be back in churches. The Pandemic has wreaked havoc on the lives of many people, especially the poor. In that sense, many of our rural church folks come from very poor backgrounds and are daily laborers - which means, no work, no money! VT Canada is coordinating some help from a distance with our limited resources. It is so good to see the church coming together to show care and compassion.
Daniel Khamsaen, Chairman, Vision Thailand Ministries

VT Ministries has four main mission priorities - Church Planting, Leadership Training and Development, Outreach and Evangelism and Compassion Ministries. The last one is mandated by the Thai government for all charities - to give back to the community.
COVID ASSISTANCE
Vision Thailand Canada continues to send limited amount of food aid to assist our church communities. The Thai Board appointed Regional leaders to purchase rice, noodles, eggs, oil, and a few other staples to distribute among the most affected. We hope to continue this assistance through the Summer months. Thanks to those who designated some donations and any further help will be gratefully received.

CHURCH PLANTING AND LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT CENTERS

Both of our leadership development and church planters training schools have reopened in June and while we are not quite back to "normal", we are slowly getting there.

Partners International Canada and Vision Thailand Canada joining hands?

As we had mentioned in a couple of our previous Newsletters, Vision Thailand has been partnering in a limited way with Partners International for about three years in planting churches. The long-term goal was to continue our conversations to see if we can join together as one mission, under the Partners International umbrella.
We are very pleased to report that our deliberations have been moving forward despite Covid, and we have just put together a document of Guiding Principles to become one Mission. So far it seems like a good fit for our philosophy of ministry in empowering national churches to do the actual mission, and we simply partner with them.
Please keep this matter in your prayers. Lord willing, if this merger comes together, your support will be reaching a significant part of South Asia with our mission work, along with some other countries. If all goes as per our plans and God's blessing, we hope to become one mission starting in 2021!
